Steam Jacketed Valve Bodies

Mitech’s Steam Jackets assure consistent valve heating or cooling of the process media to prevent crystallization or seizing of flowing media. The jacketed valve helps the high temperature steam or oil flow over the valve and body parts, keeping the media liquid. This applies especially to media such as bitumen, asphalt, liquid sulphur and soap applications. It is also suited for several mediums found in food plants, such as chocolate, when the steam jacket is fitted to a specialised hygienic valve body.

The heat diffused by the valve body jacket reaches all the critical areas, in particular the valve seat and the bearings area. The hub end or integrally flanged Inline Globe Control valve body is used as a base and is modified to incorporate the steam jacket. Flange ends are integral, while the flange drilling incorporates blind tapped holes. The bodies are rated in accordance with ASME B16.34.

The jacketed configuration is targeted to usage in sulphur recovery units, and in any application with high fluid crystallization risk.
